ERG has transformed a
waste processing facility into a manufacturing plant with the ability to translate
negative-cost raw materials (municipal solid waste) into consistent products of materials
of value, (MOV, recyclable goods) for commercial resale. Implementation of this new model for municipal
solid waste processing can provide communities with a long-term solution that controls
costs, protects the environment, and reduces the amount of waste buried in landfills.
The ERG definition of Recycling is to Recover, Restore
and Reuse.
While many claim to be involved in recycling, ERG is the first company to
successfully implement the Triple R
approach.
Recover: The
first step in the process is the most common. Many
techniques are implemented including curbside sorting, source sorting, citizen drop-off
centers and commingled recycling plants. The
ERG approach is much more effective and does not require the home or shop owner to adhere
to some cumbersome program that is usually time consuming, inconvenient and ineffective. All waste is disposed of in the normal waste
container and transported to a ERG facility and sorted with electrical, mechanical and
high-tech equipment that segregates each component of the waste stream with high levels of
efficiency and integrity. This approach
maximizes the amount of the recovery and minimizes the waste for final disposal.
Restore: Once
the components of the waste steam are recovered, processes and technology can be applied
to each component to add back or Restore value. This step is critical in order to create markets
that desire the Materials of Value created by the ERG approach. The inclusion of this Middle Man
process into the waste processing facility makes excellent economic and environmental
sense. It reduces the costs that are normally
associated with recycling and produces products that are competitive in the marketplace.
Reuse: Many
others jump immediately to this step and try to bypass the Restoration process. The fact is clear that manufacturers are less
interested in using garbage that has been separated into piles than they are
in a manufacturing ready raw material that meets their product specifications. When the stigma of garbage has been
removed at the processing facility, consumers are much more interested in utilizing the
finished goods produced by the plant. As
others adopt this sensible approach to managing Municipal Solid Waste, the objectives that
all have hoped to attain through Recycling will
be exceeded.
One facility, developed
by the principals of ERG is currently operating, located on approximately 52 acres in
South Georgia, having the capacity to process up to 1,500 ton of waste per day (photo
package available). ERG is currently
investigating the possibility of acquiring the project developed for a municipal client in
South Georgia. Success in this strategy will
allow ERG to control the future of the Company on the domestic front.
The long-term
international strategy for ERG is to focus on key markets located in South Africa, Asia
and the Balkans. ERG has developed strong
representation in these areas and has confidence in the validity of these market
opportunities.
