Mr. Hayes, who
received his B.A. from Southern Nazarene University in 1966, is the CEO of ERG, as well as
President/CEO of Environmental Wastechnology Consultants, LLC. Mr. Hayes brings a wealth of experience in
corporate management. His personal commitment
to the environment is evidenced by the mission that has been assigned to each of these
companies: to provide
creative and sensible waste disposal alternatives. His years of experience in working with
government jurisdictions of all sizes has provided him with a keen understanding of the
issues faced by elected officials. The
approach used in the development of the Groups strategy was strongly influenced by
his previous position as Vice President of the Computer Division of Lanier Worldwide, an
enterprise whose success centered on integrated solutions for specific markets. This same strategy led the Group to carefully
evaluate the needs of the waste service industry and to develop sensible solutions that
are both economically feasible and environmentally sound.
Since 1990, Mr. Hayes has dedicated his time to the development of the Group,
focusing the energies of the constituent business in the areas of integrated waste
management technology and resource reuse.
To successfully implement
this strategy, Mr. Hayes formulated a design concept referred to as the Virtual Resource
Group (VRG). The VRG concept has demonstrated, in the Crisp County project the
ability to develop a large project at costs significantly below the industry standard for
similar projects. Utilization of the same
concept has led to the development of a downstream business strategy that utilizes
reprocessed materials, with an attendant reformulation of the design criteria for waste
technology parks.
Mr. Hayes has been a
regular speaker to graduating seniors and graduate students at the College of Civil and
Environmental Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). He was a 1996 guest lecturer at Georgia
Techs Doctoral Symposium on the Environment. He
has been a keynote speaker for environmental conferences in Asia and the United Kingdom. He has made dozens of presentations for community
civic and environmental groups across the United States and Canada. His knowledge of the industry as well as the
Groups practical approach to solving the complex problems of managing solid waste
have placed him in increasing demand as a guest speaker.
